Raised in Melbourne’s North Eastern green-belt, and now calling Sydney home, Gavin Mac brings nostalgic country, rock, folk and soul influences into his own distinct brand of Alt Country.
At age 15, Gavin caught the attention of music industry heavy-weights Denis Handlin and John Waston, signing on as Sony Music Australia’s youngest-ever singer / songwriter, at the time.
Etching out a diverse career on both sides of the music industry fence, Gavin wrote and recorded with Australian icons including Linda & Vika Bull, Richard Pleasance and Alex Lloyd, then managed A&R duties for global indie label Roadrunner Records, before taking a break from the music industry to raise his family and build a successful marketing business.
Following a serendipitous trip to Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2019, Gavin’s gaze returned to his love of songwriting. In 2023, Gavin returned from his musical hiatus, with fresh perspective and drive fuelled by unfinished business.
Working alongside multi-CMAA and ARIA Award winning producer Matt Fell, and Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer William Bowden, Gavin’s debut singles Getaway, Live Your Life, and Bushfire have already amassed over 300K+ streams.
Earning his first industry nod, Gavin was also awarded Tamworth Music Association’s 2024 New Songwriter of the year, providing a tantalising glimpse into Mac's enduring talent, and what to expect from his debut album, scheduled for release on September 5, 2024.
