Australia’s country music legend Lee Kernaghan has got a new show, a new band and is heading back to town with Boys From The Bush – The Concert in 2024!
Lee Kernaghan burst onto the Australian music scene over three decades ago with a fresh approach of synthesising traditional country themes with his own experiences growing up in regional Australia. His unique style of Australian country music struck a chord with a younger generation of fans, paying homage to our great nation, its people, culture, and the hard-working lifestyle.
Classics including The Outback Club, Boys From The Bush, Hat Town, She’s My Ute and Australian Boy are the modern day anthems for generations of Australians living and working on the land.
With 13 Studio albums and 3 Greatest Hits packages under his belt, Lee has sold over two and a half million albums in Australia from his amazing catalogue: The Outback Club, Three Chain Road, 1959, Hat Town, Rules Of The Road, The Big Ones, Electric Rodeo, The New Bush, Ultimate Hits, Spirit Of The Bush, Planet Country, Beautiful Noise, Spirit Of The Anzacs, 25th Anniversary Album and Backroad Nation all achieving gold, platinum or multi-platinum status. Lee is a four-time ARIA award winning artist and in 2015 he was presented with the Australian Record Industry Award for Outstanding Achievement based on the success of Spirit Of The Anzacs which was the highest selling Australian album of the year – a feat no other country artist has achieved. In 2017 Lee was named alongside the all-time greats of Australian Country Music with his inclusion into the Australian Country Music Roll Of Renown for his lasting and significant contribution to country music, and in 2018 he was inducted into the CMC Hall of Fame. Lee also received the CMC/ARIA Award for Highest Selling Australian Album of 2018 for his 25th Anniversary Album.
Another milestone event for this Anniversary year was the release of a concert based documentary film written and directed by Kriv Stenders who also directed the Go Betweens and Slim & I docos. Kriv was also the director of the two Red Dog movies and numerous other Australian productions.
The movie is called “Lee Kernaghan - Boy From The Bush”. The director takes the audience on a journey through Lee’s career that also features a full live concert along with visual stories about the songs, the people and places that inspired those songs.
Lee is a long-time passionate supporter of rural and regional Australia. His Pass The Hat Around Australia Tours, Spirit of the Bush Tour and Farmhand concert have raised millions of dollars for drought, flood and bushfire relief, hospitals, schools, ambulance and volunteer organisations nation-wide. In 2004 Lee was the recipient of an Order of Australia Medal and was named the 2008 Australian of the Year for his service to outback and regional communities.
Lee has achieved a staggering 40 #1 chart hit songs over his career and has been awarded 38 Golden Guitars. He has been named Hitmaker of the Decade twice, in 2001 and 2011. This accolade is in recognition of Lee having more chart hits in Australia than any other country music artist in the world.
A trailblazing country-music icon, Lee continues to deliver exciting live performances, fusing arena-rock bravado with country music’s heart and soul – depicting traditional stories of life on the land with the sensibilities of the modern day.
Lee’s prior sold-out tours have cemented him as one of the greatest live entertainers in Australia, and after a four-year hiatus from touring, Lee is heading back out on the road for a series of live concerts in 2024! It’s time for Boys From The Bush – The Concert to come back to town for what will be Lee’s biggest and most epic career showcase to date.
Lee said “After what has been a very challenging few years for everyone I have to say I have never been more ready and pumped to get out there and celebrate living in the lucky country with my mates all around Australia on this tour. I have an amazing new band working with me and we have put together a show that is for the fans. It will be a musical journey live on stage going back to where it all began and culminating with some new music I have been working on. I am so looking forward to seeing everyone out on the road at these concerts. It is these interactions with people that inspire my music and after what we have all been through I reckon there is a whole heap of new song ideas waiting for me out there to bring back home and record. After a long five years away from touring I can tell you one thing - the boy from the bush is most definitely back and ready to rock”.
More Tour dates will be announced over the coming months for the second half of 2024.
