According to Armin van Buuren, that’s exactly how his new single ‘Not Giving Up On Love’ came into being. The second single off his forthcoming artist album ‘Mirage’ is a collaboration with no one less than Sophie Ellis-Bextor. This follow-up to ‘Full Focus’ definitely combines the best of both worlds.
After meeting up with the Nervo Sisters, the Australian songwriters of David Guetta’s megahit ‘When Love Takes Over’, the duo got Armin in touch with Sophie. A collaboration of the three parties was born: ‘Not Giving Up On Love’. And that’s why the John Lennon quote fits so well. Armin:â€Actually we wanted to make an instrumental, more electro-related track and ended up in a collab with Sophie Ellis-Bextor. It instantly clicked in my head. This is the right combination. I think the vocal of Sophie is a win!†Sophie Ellis-Bextor became known for tracks ‘Get Over You’ and ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’ in the early millennium-years. In the meanwhile, the British singer is up for her fourth artist album, mixing pop, indie and disco with 80’s electronic influences.
‘Not Giving Up On Love’ is just as diverse as the rest of Armin’s ‘Mirage’ album, the follow-up to Armin’s ‘76’, ‘Shivers’ and ‘Imagine’, to be released September 10th. Different from Armin’s previous works, ‘Not Giving Up On Love’ is a melodic, electro-sounding vocal beauty with real drums, a piano line and an absolute feel-good to it. Armin:â€We used 131 bpm and so it’s a lot groovier and slower. The baseline is more melodic and electro based than you would normally expect from me. But I really like that sort of sound.â€
"I am so excited to be releasing a song with Armin. I love what he does and I think Not Giving Up is a wonderful blend of trance and wistful pop. The song suits a sunrise or a dance floor and it's great to sing. Filming the video in Ibiza is the perfect way to christen the track!" Sophie Ellis Bextor
‘Not Giving Up On Love’ will be out on 20 August. The music video for the single will be shot on the Ibiza island, where Armin has his own ‘Tuesdays @ Amnesia’ night.
