Sydney girl MARSHES (aka Erin Marshall) always planned on being a singer, and releasing her own music, however the endless opportunities to DJ at some of the biggest Music Festivals and supporting international Hollywood Stars somehow got in the way!
In the past year alone, MARSHES has DJ’d at, Groovin The Moo, Hugh Jackman’s Show Tour, Field Day, TedX Talks, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival, BIG SOUND and Origin Fields. As 2019 draws to a close, MARSHES is thrilled to unleash her debut single “M.I.A.â€.
Speaking about the inspiration for “M.I.A.â€, MARSHES says, “I wrote MIA at a time when my friends were calling me a lot, but I wouldn’t answer, it was disappointing to them cus I needed time to myself, but I never communicated that to them. I just disappeared.â€
“M.I.A.†is a blissful blast of electro pop that was produced by Xavier Dunn, who has co-produced tracks for Jack River, Peking Duk, Cxloe, Pitbull to name a few. Xavier and MARSHES instantly connected in the studio giving her “the time and space to be a mess, and the opportunity to create something from that. Bloody good times.â€
Noting names like Charli XCX, Robyn, Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, Marc Ronson, Luav, Mo, as inspirations, MARSHES says she “loves songs that don’t rely fully on production, songs that are just as good stripped back on a guitar.â€
Leading up to the release of “M.I.A.â€, MARSHES has spent time writing with Tayla Parx (thank u, next – Ariana Grande), Wayne Hector (One Direction, Nicki Minaj), Nate Cyphert (Carly Rae Jepson), Raja Kumari (Fall Out Boy, Gwen Stefani), Chris DeStefano (Carrie Underwood), Mitch Kenny (Beyonce, Chris Brown) and Thief (Ruel, Jessica Mauboy).
Her passion behind the decks hasn’t waned, but for now, MARSHES is on track to become one of Australia’s brightest electronic/pop performers and songwriters.
Look out for MARSHES touring the 2020 Summer festival circuit.
