Blanche DuBois is the name of Tennessee Williams’ fragile fictional character from his 1947 Pulitzer Prize-winning play A Streetcar Named Desire. Loosely translated, Blanche DuBois also means white trash in some French dialects.

However, there is nothing questionable about either the passion for music from the Perth-based sisters Nadija and Adriana Begovich, or the stunning new single ‘THE WAR IN ME’. After 4 years Blanche DuBois are back and set to release their brand new single, ‘THE WAR IN ME’, on October 21. Taken from the bands forthcoming album YOUNG HEART, which is slated for release late January 2010.

With subtle instrumental nuances, ethereal vocal harmonies and a chorus you’ll be humming long after the song’s finished, ‘THE WAR IN ME’ is a stunning re-introduction to Blanche DuBois. The track’s pop sensibilities mask its deeper, darker side – the concept of letting go and moving on. “When we open ourselves up to the fear of the unknown we tend to feel alive again – and this song celebrates exactly that,” says singer Nadija Begovich.

Blanche DuBois have been making music together since 2002; forming their own label Streetcar Productions in that same year and releasing their debut album Raging Favourites as well. Two EPs later – Slow Motion (2004) and Love Only Hurts (2005) – the band landed a deal with Australia’s largest independent publisher, Mushroom Music Publishing, and a series of licensing and sync deals followed, which continues to see Blanche DuBois garner airplay across hit-Australian and international television shows including Home and Away, Neighbours and Ugly Betty.

2007 saw the release of their second full-length album, All The Things We Never Say, with ARIA Award winning producer Richard Pleasance at the helm. The album was received well with tracks Dance Away the Day and Slow Motion being added nationally across the Nova FM network.

In between, Blanche DuBois toured Europe and have played festivals in Australia such as A Day on the Green, alongside artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Ben Folds, Paul Kelly, Pete Murray, Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Crosby Stills and Nash, Joe Cocker and even The Bangles – performing as either an acoustic duo or with their full-band lineup.

Now, four years on, the sisters are set to release their third full-length album, produced by Matt Fell at his Love Hz Studios in Sydney.
