Described as “the voice of an angelâ€, Hiedi Limebeer’s music is both worldly and ethereal; a mix of Celtic fusion with folk and classical elements. Her music has received favourable comparisons to Sarah McLachlan, Kate Bush and Clannad. Hiedi’s songs are woven from the tapestry of her life with fragments of memory sewn together.
Hiedi spent her formative years in the Southern Highlands of NSW, where she shared her family with a large number of children under her parent’s care. This environment brought the full diversity of life to her everyday. After she started classical singing in her early teens, Hiedi was nominated for an Australian Young Achievers Award for The Arts and performed at the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
Hiedi then explored her interests in other creative fields. Following school she went on to study fashion design at the Sydney Institute of Technology (Fashion Design Studio) and journalism/public relations at the University of Western Sydney.
Her many work ventures saw her establish and produce a national tertiary student collection show “Y2K Collections†for Australian Fashion Week. Hiedi then proceeded to work as a publicist in the fashion industry.
She endeavored to find balance in the world of fashion but always felt drawn back to her love for music.
In 2005, Hiedi teamed up with guitarist/producer Rodney Alexander and has been writing and performing with him since. They have performed at a number of Sydney venues including The Gaelic Club, The Cat & Fiddle, Vic On The Park, and The Excelsior Hotel .
Following a life-altering spinal injury in 2006, Hiedi began busking and recorded her self-funded CD ‘Tears In The Rain’. Hiedi’s first release LP “Carry Me Away†is due out September 11th through her record label ARPA RECORDS and PLANET/MGM. “Carry Me Away†is intimate and engaging, from the haunting Immortal Beloved (based on words by Beethoven) , through the rhythms of The Sweetest Hour to the evocative Cynical World. Hiedi‘s pure vocals soar over soundscapes, ranging from world percussion to sweeping orchestral arrangements.
Her lyrical honesty colours her music with shades of darkness, hope, love and life.
