PRINCE’s new highly anticipated single, “Breakfast Can Wait,†is available today digitally worldwide, distributed via Kobalt Label Services. The iconic artist, who has recently taken to Twitter (@3rdeyegirl), posted the single’s satirical artwork featuring Dave Chappelle through his 3RDYEGIRL YouTube account late last month – quickly resulting in national media pickup from the likes of Rolling Stone, Spin, CNN, People and Time among others.
This follows widespread international coverage of his recent activity on Twitter. The multi-platinum hit-maker, who has been electively absent from social media until recently, amassed 100K+ followers within 24 hours of his first tweet last month.
PRINCE has been very active this year touring internationally with his new rock band 3RDEYEGIRL (featuring guitarist Donna Grantis, bassist Ida Nielsen and drummer Hannah Ford). The group completed a sold out west coast club tour in the spring and more recently detonated audiences in Montreux, Sweden, Denmark, Portugal and Amsterdam. Between performances PRINCE and 3RDEYEGIRL have been busy in Minneapolis, London and New York recording songs for a new album tentatively titled Plectrum Electrum.
In addition to his activities with 3RDEYEGIRL, PRINCE has been active with his supergroup New Power Generation – capping an epic week-long NPG residency at the City Winery in NYC with a marathon performance that ended near 6AM. The shows featured NPG vocalists Shelby J, Liv Warfield and the NPG Hornz. Says Hardeep Phull of the New York Post: “Being asked about the best concert you’ve ever seen is a common query for a music critic, and now I don’t have to go too far back to answer.
