She is one of the most successful female Australian songwriters of her generation with her songs being streamed in the billions, sales in the millions and now Amy Sheppard can add bonafide country music superstar to that list. Fresh from making a big splash as the voice behind Orca on The Masked Singer Australia, Amy launches the next chapter of her country music career with the release of her new smash single, Mr. Mistake.
The single, produced by the in-demand Mississippi Brock, is the fifth to be lifted from Amy’s debut full-length album, slated for release later this year.
Says Amy: “I’m so excited to release Mr. Mistake on Valentine’s Day—this one’s for anyone ready to move on from ‘their big mistake.’ It’s a fun checklist of red flags to watch out for in a guy who thinks he’s ‘all that.’ Like my previous singles, it’s perfect to turn up loud in the car, and I can’t wait to perform it live for the first time!”
In the first two years of her solo country music career, Amy has amassed SIX Top 5 hits on the Australian country airplay chart and was the most played Australian female artist on country radio in 2022-23, released her debut EP, Nothing But Wild, which reached #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Album chart and released a collaboration with US vocal supergroup Home Free and Travis Collins.
Amy and her siblings and Sheppard bandmates, George and Emma, recently relocated to Nashville to allow them the chance to record and tour North America and Europe with greater ease.
In addition to her music, Amy is a national spokesperson for body positivity, launching her Kiss My Fat Ass campaign in 2019. She features in the acclaimed documentary Embrace Kids, directed by 2023 Australian of the Year, Taryn Brumfitt, and is regularly called upon to discuss her own journey with self-image, acceptance and fitting in on social media.
